A
Collection of Food Mailing Lists| If you are reasonably familiar with the operation of Mailing Lists, please read on. If
not, you may want to read a general introduction to them
first, before attempting to join any of the ones listed below. You can link back to this
page at the end of the introduction. If you want to jump to the mailing list index below,
click here. When you set up subscriptions with traditional mailing lists you are dealing with computers, and so you must be sure to use the exact words required, and always use the email address appropriate to your request. Commands about your subscription (subscribe, unsubscribe, help, digest, list....) must be sent to the computer (listserv, majordomo, listproc, mailbase, mailserv). Messages to the other members of the mailing list must be sent to the list itself. When you join a list you will receive a welcoming email from the controller of the list. This will advise you of the commands you can use to change your subscription, move to a digest version if one exists, and search archives etc. Store this away. You will need it later. I have a folder where I keep them all. A table of the major commands for the main types of mailing list software is on the introduction to mailing lists page. The instructions for joining and leaving lists, and urls for any associated web pages and archives are provided for all the lists set out below. These commands should only be sent to the hosting computer not the list. Only on topic messages should be sent to the group. The collection of mailing lists is long and may be easier to scan if you choose a small font size for the browser screen. Use the navigation aids to jump up and down the page, from the index to the data on each mailing list. Mailing lists come and go, and there is no way I can keep track of all of them. Please let me know if you come across any that have ceased to exist, and also any that I you think should be on the list. Sometimes the mailing lists are quiet, but may start up again when a stimulating email is posted. Please note that one way lists like FSnet and Agnet can be found the newsletter page. These lists allow readers to submit information but not to post messages. Click on any of the list names to jump to details of how to join or search the archives etc..
